Everything in the bible is the word of God, but not everything is the Gospel.
The gospel of Christ has been preached around the world, this is good for the Gospel. It was sent for the benefit of men. God sent the Gospel out of His unconditional love for human kind. The Gospel is free and is available to all who believes.
There are a lot of contradictions on what is exactly the Gospel of Christ. The Lord Himself said, ‘I have come to preach the gospel. These are the exactly words of our Lord Jesus:
Luke 4:18 (KJ21)
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor. He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”
Apostle Paul whom this Gospel was revealed said,
Romans 1:16, (NIV)
“16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
From above two verses, we can conclude that for every believer or Christian, it is a must to have clear understanding of what is the Gospel.
I always say this, you cannot take one verse from the bible and make your own doctrine and by the same token, you cannot ignore one verse. All I am saying, the bible is a beautiful book written book by God Himself that does not in any way contradict itself. It is the best book ever written.
Everything in the bible is the word of God but not everything is the gospel though you can find the Gospel in every scripture or in every story in the bible.
I am not in any way trying to confuse you, I will explain in my next post what I mean by this. I will start from the beginning on “what is the gospel?” and take you through on what it means for a believer today. You will be amazed and it will bless you.
The Gospel gives life, the word ‘Gospel means Good News’ Jesus said,
“10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
